Some rosy rosy talks..

Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose. Gertrude Stein was frolicsome with 'roses'. Franco Fortini wrote his longest and most allusive poem of rose in 'The poem of the roses.' Shakespeare had a sonnet for Rose. Roses are indeed romantic enough to set ablaze the most creative ones. Roses are symbolic of romance, love.

Since love doesnt have a season to bloom and it lingers everywhere everytime all over the world, roses are not to diminish in importance anytime. 'The best rose bush, after all is not that which has the fewest thorns, but that which bears the finest roses' (Henry Van Dyke). So roses bears thorns, no matter, even love hurts.

The lovely rosie has a good business in daily life. The preservatives used to keep it 'alive' for hours causes harm, especially the imported ones. Cut roses are the number one in this along with orchids and other cut flowers. Encouraging the local nurseries to grow quality flowers can contribute their lot to economy. Manufacture of perfumes, scents and even beads include this. Beads made out of rose flowers last for years keeping their scent.

Modern nurseries grow roses of different varieties- roses of different colours and different sizes. Now beyond the traditional red and pink roses, there are yellow, orange, blue and multi-coloured roses.

Red Rose Red Rose
Which is a sweet scent to the nose
So soft and smooth
It makes my heart move
Red Rose Red Rose
Which makes a good pose
That I like to hold
Red Rose Red Rose
Which the wind blows
As each day goes
Red Rose Red Rose
Which grows and grows
It's my favorite kind
That it sooths the mind
Red Rose Red Rose
That it helps sooth my soul
-Eve Anderson

Lillies, jasmines, camomiles, tulips, whatever... a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.
